Delivering positive change and empowering people have been at the forefront of the Inspire training team’s activities over the last few months.

Travelling all around Northern Ireland, our colleagues have been leading the Changemakers workshops, a volunteer- and service user-focused initiative aimed at developing communication skills, peer-to-peer support networks and leadership abilities.

I really enjoyed this experience. I learned a lot and I am very excited to continue the journey and support people and causes that matter.”

Additional expert guidance was provided by public affairs consultant Brendan Mulgrew and Q Radio’s Amy McGuckin. Both shared their knowledge of local politics and social media, helping everyone feel more informed about how to engage with the world around them.

Every session was anchored by a focus on the power of effective advocacy, as well as the confidence that can be gained through co-production, group facilitation and knowledge of where power lies and how it can be utilised.

“I am really open to new challenges. To bring support to others. To help make life that little bit easier. I am no longer allowing my disability to stop me going out and grabbing life the best way I can.”

Participants showed immense dedication and that’s why we celebrated the end of the programme with a certificate ceremony for each participant at The MAC Belfast in June.

Changemakers represents Inspire’s ongoing commitment to amplifying the insights of the people we support and equipping them with the skills to help themselves and their communities.

Lisa did a brilliant job unpacking the topic and skillfully engaging our diverse group. It was a great opportunity to get to know the group and their experiences in a new way.”
