Inspire has responded to the Department of Health’s consultation on the draft Learning Disability Service Model.

We understand that people living with intellectual disabilities face many challenges every day. Our staff work hard to support the individuals who access our services, along with their families and their carers, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to wellbeing.

We believe that now is the time for the existing intellectual disability framework in Northern Ireland to be transformed into something fit for the future, focused on fresh ways of providing effective care. The proposed service model offers the chance to define what this approach looks like, how – and with whom – it is designed and the ways in which it promises positive outcomes for everyone.

Inspire welcomes the Department’s ambition. With the right commitments, it can deliver the transformational change that people with intellectual disabilities, their families and their carers require.
