Inspire has responded to the Northern Ireland Executive’s consultation on the draft Anti-Poverty Strategy 2025-2035.

While we were initially encouraged by the Executive’s decision to bring forward to a targeted anti-poverty plan, the current proposals fall short of what is needed.

This submission outlines our views on the strategy, details the ways in which poverty and deprivation are inextricably linked to mental ill health and addiction, and describes how a new rights-based approach must utilise co-design, co-production and the voice of lived experience.

As we have stated in our response, poverty is a political choice, not an inevitability.
