Over the past year, our service users, volunteers and staff have been knitting Trauma Teddies to donate to the local PSNI on completion.
Dorothy Neeson, Scheme Manager said “Our teddies provide comfort and help take people's minds off their worries. Trauma Teddies are lovingly knitted, by our members and volunteers in Magherafelt. We want to take this time to mention the generosity of our knitters and amazing service users, staff and volunteers.”
Officers from Magherafelt Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “The 'trauma teddies' are designed to distract little ones or vulnerable adults from crimes or incidents they have witnessed. This could include anything from traffic collisions to domestic violence or getting lost. Teddies will be kept at police stations and in police vehicles and officers attending such incidents can provide a teddy in the hope that it offers a little comfort in what would be a difficult or upsetting situation. We want to thank everyone who has supported this initiative for your generosity and we are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to knit or crochet a Trauma Teddy.”
