The Irish voluntary and community sector umbrella organisation, The Wheel, held its AGM in Croke Park and we are delighted that Inspire CEO Peter McBride was successfully appointed to the Board of Directors.
The Wheel is the support and representative body connecting community and voluntary organisations and charities across Ireland. Established in 1999, The Wheel has evolved to become a resource centre and forum for the sector. Speaking about why he was interested in becoming involved in The Wheel Peter said
“Inspire works right across Ireland now. Our values mean that as well as delivering services we want to play an active part in the voluntary and community sector in both parts of the island. Naturally we want to contribute to debates and campaigns on mental health, intellectual disability and addiction but we are also interested in the wider voluntary and community issues which The Wheel is leading on. It’s a fascinating and important time for the development of civil society in Ireland and I’m really looking forward to taking part in these important conversations through my involvement in The Wheel.”
Volunteers bring immeasurable value to all areas of Inspire’s work to support people living with mental health conditions or an intellectual/learning disability. Find out more about how you get involved with our work.
