Sir Alex Ferguson was the iconic and inspirational guest of honour at a very special mental health awareness event held in the Craigavon Civic Centre on Monday 10th April 2017, organised by former Manchester United player and founder of of TTBS (Train To be SMART), Pat McGibbon in conjunction with Inspire.
A group of delighted young wannabe premier league football stars of the future got the chance to meet the great man himself and put their questions to him.
For all of those attending it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear first-hand from the most successful manager of all time what it takes to succeed in professional sport.
Sir Alex also showed great interest in hearing about the TTBS initiative, and also the work of Inspire, from its Chief Executive, Professor Peter McBride, to jointly promote mental health and wellbeing, in particular with young people via positive participation in sport and physical activity.
Volunteers bring immeasurable value to all areas of Inspire’s work to support people living with mental health conditions or an intellectual/learning disability. Find out more about how you get involved with our work.
