Situated on a quiet, tree lined avenue in East Belfast, Ballymisert Support Housing offers a relaxed and positive environment where a person’s strengths, abilities and qualities are fully recognised and supported.
Ballymisert Heights is situated on the Holywood Road between Denorrton Park and Station Road. It is a 24 hour supported living scheme aimed at enabling those with mental health issues to live independently in the community. The scheme was built by Triangle Housing and is managed by Northern Ireland Association of Mental Health (NIAMH), there are 17 individual apartments and a 4 roomed shared house. There is also a communal space – The Den, where tenants can come and watch TV, join in various activities or just relax.
Tenants are referred by the community mental health team and accommodation is allocated after there has been an admissions panel which includes a representative from Triangle, Care Management and NIAMH.
Tenants are secure in the knowledge that their tenancy will allow them to take the time needed to complete their Recovery Journey into total independent living.
The staff team have a variety of qualifications and a wealth of experience which brings both knowledge and skills to the scheme. Staff development is ongoing with all staff taking part in essential training which meets the requirements of regulatory bodies. This expertise enables the team to ensure each individuals needs are met, taking a holistic approach and working at a pace relevant to the individual ensures they can become more confident, address issues, develop coping skill, develop a sense of self-worth and integrate into the community.
