In the increasingly fast moving pace of contemporary life, all of us are challenged to be more, do more and do it quicker. We can meet these growing challenges by developing greater support mechanisms for ourselves and others.
For that reason, Inspire is encouraging everyone to ASK, LISTEN and TALK to ensure that you, your family, your friends and your colleagues are supported in this changing world.
In the week of World Mental Health Day 2018, Inspire staff will be bringing this message far and wide. Below are some of the events and activities that Inspire staff will be facilitating and participating in:
7th October - Irish FA Community event at Girdwood Community Hu
Lisa McElherron, Group Director for Insight and Engagement will be hosting a mental health information stall for Irish Football Association.
8th October – Ask, Listen, and Talk: YMCA Newcastle
Inspire Floating Support Team and Change Your Mind will deliver an interactive awareness session for 15 young people from the Global Young Women Project in partnership with YMCA and the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.
8th October – Head in the Game Mental Health in Sport Launch: Girdwood House, Belfast
Andrea Thornbury our Research, Innovation and Development Manager with the Irish Football Association, TAHMI and Change Your Mind, will speak at the first in a series of information sessions on how football clubs across NI can use the new toolkit to promote the mental wellbeing of their players, coaches and wider club members.
10th October – Wellbeing Awareness event, Aspen CWS
Aspen Community Wellbeing Service will host a Wellbeing Information Event at Finaghy Community Centre to mark World Mental Health Day 2018, from 11am to 1pm. The occasion will bring together a number of local organisations to showcase their health and wellbeing services, opportunity to access free health checks, as well as light refreshments. The event is free and open to everyone to attend.
10th October - Responsible Business Summit, Belfast
Katy Skelton our Business Development Officer is at holding a stand at the Responsible Business Summit. The Summit focuses on sharing good practice and ideas for a sustainable future.
10th October - Movies in Mind Conference, Nerve Centre, Derry/Londonderry
Ruairi O'Doherty who is our Project Worker in our Community Wellbeing Service in Derr/Londonderry is volunteering at the 'Movies In Mind' Conference. Movies in Mind has come about as a result of Ulster University’s Research and Impact fund in partnership with Nerve Centre and will be the cities first dedicated Mental Health Film and Arts Festival.
10th October – Wellbeing Breakfast, Rosewood CWS
Rosewood Community Wellbeing Service will host a Wellbeing Breakfast to mark World Mental Health Day 2018. Rosewood is bringing together a number of local businesses and organisations to the event at Omagh Enterprise Centre on Wednesday 10th October.
10th October – Ask, Listen, And Talk: Tips for wellbeing and self-care. Bruce St, Belfast
10th October –Mental Health Ambassadors launch
Jenna Booth and Andrea Thornbury from Insight & Engagement will attend the launch of Mental Health Ambassadors programme at Boys Model School in Belfast which has been supported by Inspire and Change Your Mind.
10th October – Wellbeing in Sport Action Plan launch
Lisa McElherron, Director of Insight and Engagement will speak at the launch of Sport NI Wellbeing Action Plan in Lombard House. Inspire and Change Your Mind have been involved in the development of the plan.
10th October – Information Stall at Department Work and Pensions
Graeme Arthur, Marketing Officer with Inspire Professional Services will be hosting a mental health information stall for staff at the DWP main office in Belfast.

Lisa McElherron, Director of Insight and Engagement will speak at the NI Local Government Association conference on the theme of Mental Health, Wellbeing and Community Resilience.
11th October – Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit, Dublin
Our Professional Services Team, Katy Skelton, Caroline Kirwin, Caroline Jackman and John Duffy are holding a stand at the Mental Health & Wellbeing Summit. The Mental Health & Wellbeing Summit is the only event of its kind in Ireland and has established itself as one of the most important events of the year to attend to obtain genuine, practical information and education on coping with and managing mental health.
11th October – Mental Health, Mindfulness and Me, BSO Wellbeing Seminar, Ballymena Showgrounds
Inspire CEO Peter McBride and Lead Mindfulness Practitioner Frank Liddy will deliver a this seminar for HR professionals in partnership with BSO and Change Your Mind.
