We celebrate 20 years since the opening of Shiels Court.
Shiels Court is a 24 hour Supported Housing Scheme based in Ballymoney and the scheme has been in operation since 1997 and was reconfigured to a 24 hour Support Housing Scheme in 2003.
On Friday 8th December 2017 service users, staff and volunteers hosted a special anniversary event and invited family, friends and local politicians to attend. The MLA'S who were in attendance were, Mervyn Storey (DUP) , Claire Sugden (Independent), Robin Swann (UUP).
Lesley-Ann Beckett, Scheme Manager said "The morning held was a celebration and recognition of 20 years community service offer by INSPIRE in Support Housing. Service users, past and present alongside family members, local MLA's and community groups had the opportunity to meet and discuss what Shiels Court had meant to them and their families. The positive impact the support offered had on their mental and physical health and also the opportunity individuals had been given to feel part of a community again. Family members highlighted that Shiels Court had given their loved ones a safe and caring home, that they felt contributed to their own family relationships, ensuring that the time they had with their sisters and brothers was more positive and the worry and anxiety that they once had was no longer there."
