our volunteer roles

Throughout Inspire, we have many opportunities for you to utilise your talents, skills or experience to add value to the delivery of our services, or to help us raise public awareness. Here are some of the roles we have to offer you.

All available across Mental Health & Disability services unless stated.

Advocacy (Mental Health only) - Volunteer advocates help in the following Health & Social Care Trusts - Belfast, Northern and Southern and they -

- Provide independent advocacy to those who access the Inspire advocacy service in a hospital or community setting

- Motivate and encourage service users to represent themselves

BKN Upcycling (Mental Health only) - BKN Upcycling is a social enterprise scheme on the Erne Road in Enniskillen and is dedicated to helping people with mental health issues.  They are looking -

- Volunteer drivers to collect and deliver furniture

- Creative volunteers to help paint, decorate and upcycle furniture

- Woodwork volunteers to help restore, repair and sand furniture

Activities - We want fun and energetic people to work alongside staff in facilitating, delivering and participating in group activities with service users. You will also -

- Plan events and day trips

- Offer a listening ear and engage in social interaction with service users

If you are friendly, creative and supportive with great communication skills and have previous experience of facilitating activities, we would love to hear from you.

Gardening – Volunteers with a love of gardening work alongside service users helping  them to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables and assisting with general gardening tasks e.g. maintaining beds and borders. A number of services would welcome help on allotments and in large polytunnels too.

Befriender - 1-1 befriending where you will be matched with a resident/service user and you will offer individual support on a regular basis. This could be a simple as a chat and a cup of tea or helping with shopping; visiting the library; going for a walk or other social activities.

Support – You will support staff and engage with service users and encourage them to take on new challenges that will allow them to reach their full potential. You will motivate and encourage service users to participate in scheme activities.

Events - To assist with centrally organised fundraising activities and initiatives to showcase the work of Inspire

Administration – Provide administrative support in a busy office environment

Driver - To provide transport for service users to and from Inspire services

Facilitator – You will facilitate and deliver group sessions in a range of activities such as arts & crafts; plan events and outings and support staff and other volunteers in the delivery of care and support to service users

Holistic Therapist - To provide a range of holistic therapies to service users for relaxation purposes and to promote wellbeing. Volunteers need recognised qualifications and certificates in relation to therapies being offered.
