My initial training in coaching was provided by the ‘London Centre for Leadership in Learning’ back in 2008 during my two year secondment to the NEELB primary management team. As a link officer to primary principals I was able to make good use of this training and develop my coaching skills in a very practical way.
Since then, as a well-established primary school principal, my coaching skills have been developed even further as I have coached my own teaching and non-teaching staff at all levels through a wide variety of challenges and opportunities. As a principal of three different schools over the last eleven years I have established a very strong ‘coaching’ style of leadership.
This school year I have extended my skills further by completing the Accredited Award in Coach Training through LeonEdu. I am also nearing completion of the ILM Level 5 certificate in coaching and mentoring through NICVA. As part of the ILM course I chose three Principals to coach over the required eighteen hours of one to one sessions and I received very positive and encouraging feedback.
Most recently I have established ‘Richard Reid Coaching’ and have been employed in a number of schools to provide a series of coaching sessions for the principal, senior leaders and teaching staff. Through my coaching work my aim for every client is the same, to:
