I first became involved on one to one coaching in 2010 when I was a Professional Development Officer with the Regional Training Unit and deeply involved in all aspects of Professional Qualification for Headship (PQH). I received initial input from Centre for Educational Leadership in Nottingham and then underwent training and reaccreditation from the same institution. I regularly attend coach supervision sessions to update my coaching skills.

Experience in one to one coaching (Max. 300 words)

Initially I was involved in working with Trainee head Teachers, discussing their concerns relating to their preparation for headship. In addition to this work I have over the last 4 years been involved on one to one coaching with experienced principals who have been working in increasingly demanding situations. This is demanding work involving essential coaching skills such as listening, questioning, empathising and supporting. I have been involved with a range of principals from those approaching retirement to those new to the role and those in Senior Management positions. I also do a lot of private work with schools in leadership development and increasingly so resilience training where I get the opportunity to coach both individuals and teams.
I am currently working with Stranmillis College as an associate lecturer on their new PQL (Post qualification in Leading Learning) course where I have been instrumental in designing and delivering Unit 1 on Resilience and Wellbeing and Unit 2 on Coaching and Mentoring which Is about to begin shortly. Again this affords me the opportunity to apply coaching techniques and to coach participants as they study for future qualifications at Masters level
I have also been involved with some schools in training Senior leaders in coaching skills  so that they can then employ this technique when developing other staff and students .
I am also a PRSD external Adviser and have used one to one coaching with many principals as they set their yearly personal objectives
Quite a bit of my present coaching experience has been has been with Inspire who are contracted to work with CSL (Centre for School Leadership) on their coaching initiative in the Republic of Ireland.
