For Mental Health Awareness Week and over the months of May, June and July, we went on a road trip around Northern Ireland.
We worked with the amazingly talented and experience vocal Una McCann who facilitated community choir workshops teaching participants to perform The Greatest Showman hit song- This is Me.
Community singing helps improve happiness and wellbeing and singing together creates a sense of support. Una spoke to the groups about how breathing exercises help with focus and control whilst promoting a sense of calmness.
We chose This is Me as the song is an empowering, anti-stigma song about resilience, bravery and self esteem, which was the theme we focused on during Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2019.
We wanted to bring people together to learn the song and the positive influence singing can have on your health. It was an amazing experience and we now have the video to show you in full.
Volunteers bring immeasurable value to all areas of Inspire’s work to support people living with a learning disability. Find out more about how you get involved with our work....
